MEDIA EXPERT TRAINING POLICE TO HANDLE SCRUTINY

PHOENIX -- America's police departments are finally getting some much needed backup and it couldn't have come at a better time.

Chris Ryan, an internationally recognized media / crisis communications and police media relations expert has created a 2-day intensive media training course for police chiefs, sheriffs, commanders, supervisors, spokespersons and other key law enforcement personnel. Ryan, a former law enforcement and court officer instructs from the police perspective.

Police Media Relations is a comprehensive course designed to teach law enforcement officers and their agencies how to communicate more effectively with the news media and the public.

Attendees learn to:

  • Communicate more effectively at a crime scene or in high profile situations.
  • Handle the intense media spotlight when tragedy strikes.
  • Deal with scrutiny during a department or other scandal.
  • Use secrets and tricks reporters don't want you to know and much more.

Attendees gain critical skills needed to understand and deal with local, national and international news media. They also discover powerful, practical tools to manage and disseminate information. During much of the course officers participate in candid discussions and problem solving, on-camera interviews and practice, insightful group exercises, real-life demonstrations and scenarios.

The response and comments from officers and others attending has been overwhelming. 'Media Relations for Law Enforcement' is essential for any law enforcement officer responsible for communicating and interacting with the news media.

The courses are presented by Ryan & Assoc. Public Relations and taught by its president Chris Ryan. In most cases the course is hosted by a local law enforcement agency. The cost to attend is $295 per person.

Ryan & Assoc. Public Relations is finalizing its course training calendar for 2003. Law enforcement officers in many areas of the country will have an opportunity to attend and potentially have their department host this important course.
